Youth Affairs Council Victoria (YACVic) applauds Prime Minister Scott Morrison for appointing a Federal Minister for Youth, Australia’s first since 2013, as part of his new Ministerial cabinet.
“This is a crucial, important first step in ensuring young people are on the national agenda” says Katherine Ellis, Chief Executive Officer of YACVic.
“We encourage the federal government to continue to prioritise issues which affect young people, and to implement policies which encourage and empower young people to shape and contribute to Australia’s progress.”
YACVic looks forward to working with Senator Richard Colbeck in ensuring young people’s needs and perspectives have direct representation in cabinet.
“Young people are more important than ever,” says Ms Ellis.
“Issues which affect young Australians are issues which will affect every Australian moving forward.”
