YDAS made this submission in response to the Registration and Accreditation Scheme for the Victorian disability workforce consultation paper as distributed by the State Government of Victoria in October 2017. In the submission, we outline our support of the implementation of a registration scheme but tak the opportunity to draw attention to the importance of balancing all objectives of the Convention on the Rights of People with Disabilities.

Our recommendations include:

  • allowing self-managing NDIS participants to hire workers outside of the scheme
  • keeping the costs of the scheme as low as possible for students and people with disability
  • and ensuring that people with disability are involved in a meaningful capacity at every point of scheme development, implementation and review.
