What is the NDIS?
The National Disability Insurance Scheme (NDIS) supports people with disability by making sure they get the right supports and services.
If you don’t know a lot about the NDIS check out our video. It features young people with disability talking about the NDIS.
What happens at a NDIS planning meeting?
Once you have joined the NDIS you will have a planning meeting with someone called a planner or Local Area Coordinator (LAC).
At this meeting you will talk about:
- your life now
- the supports you need because of your disability
- what you want to do in the future AND
- how the NDIS can help you live the life you want.
The information you share at your planning meeting will help your planner to come up with a plan that suits your needs and helps you live the life you want.
YDAS has created two tip sheets for young people who are joining the NDIS to help you prepare for your planning meeting.
