What to expect

We invite you to join us for the next leg of the YACVic 2024 Listening Tour, hosted by our CEO Mary Nega and the accompanying Ethical Practice Training.

Listening Tour

During the Listening Tour, we want to discuss your immediate and long-term needs, strengths and challenges, and find out which issues are most important to young people. The Listening Tour will inform YACVic’s 2024-27 Strategic Plan, policy priorities, and our state budget funding bid on behalf of the youth sector.

So far we’ve visited Great South Coast, southeast and northeast Victoria, Alpine Shire, Southern Mallee and metro Melbourne regions.

You don't need to prepare anything, just come along with your ideas and honest feedback!

The Listening Tour will go for an hour and a half and begin at 12pm.

Ethical Practice Training

If you work with young people, you will often face ethical dilemmas: situations where you have to decide the right thing to do.

You’ll walk away feeling motivated and equipped by the framework of the Code of Ethical Practice (the Code) and how it can be used to enhance your work with young people.

This interactive training course includes introductory theory and guidance for using the Code in your practice. There will be plenty of opportunity for discussion and reflective practice as well as strategies for developing ethical practice in your role/organisation.

Please note

You are welcome to attend only the Listening Tour or both the Listening Tour and training.

There will be a catered lunch so please let us know your dietary requirements.

The training will be held in Learning Centre 5 – Level 1 of the Library.

Topics we cover

  • Why is a Code of Ethical Practice so important for the youth sector?
  • What are ethics anyway?
  • How do I work ethically with young people?
  • Using the principles and practice responsibilities of the Code of Ethical Practice
  • Unpacking scenarios and situations in your practice
  • How do I deal with an ethical dilemma at work?
