What is Yerp?

Yerp is an online toolkit. It's a home for all things youth participation (actively involving young people in decision-making processes) and much more!

YERP was first created in 2013 as a dedicated information hub for young Victorians and the Victorian youth sector.

In 2022, almost a decade after its first launch, Youth Affairs Council Victoria (YACVic) received funding from the Victorian Government’s Office for Youth to update the site to ensure its ongoing relevance and value.

We’re proud to say that YERP has been upgraded in consultation with over 200 younger and older people across Victoria with a focus on youth participation, engagement and empowerment. This included a Steering Committee of both young people and youth sector representatives who guided this project, and a group of 10 young co-designers who helped to create the scope, look and feel of the site.

Who is Yerp for?

YERP is for everyone! It's for young people and anyone who works with young people, or for those interested in involving young people in their work but don't quite know where to start.

YERP is for young people – if you’re 12-25, YERP will give you ideas for stepping up and making change in your community.

YERP is for older people too – YERP will show you why it makes sense to involve young people in what you do, and how you can go about it.

And if it’s your job to work with young people, you’ll find best practice advice, and resources to support you in your career.

Visit YERP (www.yacvic.org.au/yerp) for more info. We hope you enjoy it as much as we do.
