Involving young people in decision-making on issues that affects them leads to better outcomes in their lives.
It’s also good for society, as young people make invaluable contributions to communities and are empowered themselves when they participate. Research shows that involving young people improves civic participation, health and wellbeing, social inclusion and economic prosperity.
By engaging young people, we can access their perspectives and understand their concerns which means we can more adequately meet their needs.
When you say the alternative to youth participation out loud, ‘not involving young people in decisions that affect them’, it sounds wrong, doesn’t it?
